What ADHD Medications Have Worked Well For Your Children With Asperger's?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’
North Fond Du Lac, WI

My son has been on Daytrana patch since February. He currently is at 20 mg. I feel like it is not working at all. He is more irritable, aggressive and impulsive. He cannot swallow pills due to sensory issues. We previously tried Focalin XR (he kept chewing the beads) and Vyvanse (increased tics). I was wondering about Methylin as it comes in a liquid or chewable or Dextroamphetamine which also comes in a liquid. Anyone have any experience with these???? Thanks!

My son had been taking Guanfacine for over a year for ADHD and it has been great and helped a lot. Recently out of the blue he started to have really bad anxiety and panic attacks, he absolutely miserable. My heart breaks because he is just so sad. Our neurologist advised to try CBD to help with anxiety. We added 15mg about a week ago in addition to Guanfacine and for the first 2 days it seem to help a lot, but last 4 days it seems like it’s just getting worse. In addition he is not sleeping… read more

Whats Your Experience With ADHD Medications?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’
Los Angeles, CA

My son just started ritalin and I'm not sure if it's working. He doesn't seem that much calmer. Then after it wears off (doctor only has him on a 4 hour one right now) he starts to get really angry all of a sudden. It's hard to know if it's working or not. Ugh

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’
Olivia, MN

Deandre was diagnosed with autism and adhd in July, but nothing was explained. The only thing we received from them was a source list of therapies that are two hours away from us. I’m new to this all and kind of lost. We have just been living life as we always have.

Can Anyone Tell Me If Their Child Is On An ADD Medicine?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’
Redding, CA

Is there enough of a difference that I should feel comfortable putting my soon to be 8 year old son on? He has weird reactions to things that usually calms others down. Caffeine, allergy medicine just make him more wired. I'm terrified it could make matters worse. He claims he has no control of his outburst or constant rebuttal. I'm mentally exhausted.

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’
Republic, MO

My 10-year-old son was diagnosed with ASD last year by a psychologist specializes in autism. Before that, his primary doctor diagnosed him with ADHD. He also struggles with significant anxiety, which impacts his ability to complete schoolwork.

His counselor believes that anxiety is a key challenge for him and worries that a stimulant might worsen it. We did try a non-stimulant (Strattera), but he didn’t tolerate it well—it made him feel nauseous and lightheaded.

When I discussed this with his… read more
