To Discipline? What Is The Best Course Of Action?
Good Morning Team,
Problem: Alex is 8, deals with separation anxiety 5 days of the week when his dad isn't here (at work) and we have a routine for dealing. He is very verbal now, but when the meltdowns and tantrums (yes, I can tell the difference) happen he is thrashing around and has sometimes hurt me, he has broken stuff. It scares me. Discipline has a reverse affect and I don't know what to do! Help?

Boredom
I may have asked this before but I’m asking again because I’m desperate for answers. I’ve searched online and haven’t found any information on what I’m looking for.
What does boredom look like in your ASD kid? What actions do they do when they are bored? How can you tell? If they are not bored just under-stimulated, how do you explain to others the difference??
@A MyAutismTeam Member Thank you so much for your response! You literally described what our son does for sensory seeking that leads to pain seeking. He does all that. He hasn’t let up since we… read more

Mother With ASD. How To Deal With In Laws
I am writing as I am a mum of a 10mo. We live in a different country that both set of grandparents. I have struggled immensely with their visits as they do not understand our parenting style, and in particular don't understand that our baby doesn't need to be touched or interrupted by them when he plays. My husband and I took 10m of parental leave and are very well attach to our baby. When the grandparents come to visit, I get so anxious that it impacts the mood of everyone. With my parents I am… read more

Son Is Starting HS Soon And This Application Process Has My Anxiety At An All Time High!
Good Evening everyone!
I have been an emotional wreck all day today. High School Application deadline is closing in & after reviewing so many options, I can't make a decision. I live in NYC and I want to find a suitable school for my son but either a school is too far, school is too big or the school atmosphere just seems too rough. My son has never rode a bus before to school because his school was always right across the street so we would walk. This is a big adjustment for him and knowing… read more
I know how you feel but change is necessary. I'd say step out on faith. Even though we may not know the outcome of change, it just might turn out to be the best things for him.
