I Would Like Some Guidance For My 2 Year Old Boy.

A friend has suggested looking at if my son needs additional support and my friend’s husband is autistic - low functioning.

I’ve looked into the traits for autism as a toddler and my son seems to tick almost every box. This is quite overwhelming and scary for me.

I also have a one year old and I am pregnant too
Just off the top of my head:
He flaps his hands when he’s got a really exciting bit on the tv
He makes grunting/growling sounds when running around outside regularly
Doesn’t… read more

Hi, my son did much of those things and alot more. I always wondered what was wrong until i went to the pediatrician and he failed his M-Chat and the doctor said he was global developmental delayed and told me to go see a neurologist.. after all that he had early intervention and it help soooo much. He had speech and OT. Then school took over once he turned 3.. my son has autism he is 7 years old now. Its been a long journey but im happy he got early intervention. Really consider it because it helps alot trust me.

Oh boy, okay, I apologize in advance but as a guy I hate jumping into a “lady” conversation but I’m just seeing something in what you wrote and it’s alarming. You think kid 1 might have autism, you have a 1yr old at home and your currently pregnant....
Your considered something us autistic parents call as “high risk for autism”. I believe autisms can be cured, but even for the people who don’t almost all believe if you have 5 kids, probably 3 of the 5 will be on spectrum. That’s easy to agree with because these autism sites just show those numbers clearly! SO....mamma, you need to start looking a lot deeper into the science of autism spectrum disorder and THERE IS ALOT OF SCIENTIFIC studies out there now released. I believe autisms are mostly allergies of the brain and gut, but many believe it’s genetic or heirloom issues or heritable. You need to look up (and it won’t be easy because this is new stuff), gynecologist’s who specializes in autism. They do exist but what your going to hear from this doctor is autism moms go through pregnancy running low on certain vitamins and acids in there bodies. Low on zinc, low on folic acid, having issues with ALOT of heartburn (IBS/ SIBO/ CROHN’s) some are dealing with pre-diabetic issues also. Get on a high quality prenatal vitamin (high quality), and your halfway there.
Here is just 1 of many article’s you can find backing up my point. It’s a crime that autism numbers are going up...they aren’t sharing this info with women during checkups.

My son flaps his hands when he is excited, he didn't respond to his name and is just starting to (he is 3), he still is not verbal and has very little receptive language. Each child has different traits. I just recommend getting the ball started with early intervention- I did that and put him in Speech and OT. I did everything and looking back I wish I did more. Part of it was the anxiety, fear, etc...just fight through those feelings and get therapy, evaluations, etc.
