Any Suggestions On Homeschooling A 3 Year Old?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Grapevine, TX

Just starting homeschool with my son. He is 3 almost 4. just wanting guidance on where to start? He has a speech delay and is about 2 years behind developmentally. I also have a 1 year old boy ....so I thought it would be great to teach them together since for the most part they are on the same level developmentally. Any suggestions?

I would give it a shot. Normally they have a free 30 day trial. So it's worth signing up and using it for that free 30 days to see if it interests him any.

If he takes interest in it during that time, then purchase the membership, otherwise cancel before they bill you.

I'd say, even if he doesn't fully understand to start with, if he shows interest in the lessons, songs, stories, it's worth purchasing the membership. I cannot claim to know for certain, but I imagine that the more he is exposed to things in a way that catches his attention, the more chance he'll have of understanding them.

I would honestly recommend ABCMouse.com!!!! It has a WONDERFUL curriculum and it helped my son engage tremendously! The levels increase as he understands more. A lot of fun songs to listen to, a reward system for completing the work ("money" that he can use to decorate his virtual room and pets he can purchase and purchase items for that he needs to feed and water and play with!) It gives you reports on his progress.

I LOVED ABCMouse and wish, wish, WISH they had sites for children 6+! I felt it was more than worth the money when he was a toddler!! We stopped using it mid-kindergarten as he lost interest (it was too easy for his academic level) but started when he was 2!

Following.....
My son is almost 3&1/2, he goes to school, however I'm thinking of homeschooling the days he is not in school.
He won't sit still for more than 3mins.
I'm thinking about adding a strap in chair in addition to his desk and chairs.
I have blocks, puzzle, trains, kitchen set with utensils card and trains.
I use markers because he wants to eat the crayons.
Look for advice on how to get him to interact, I guess the implementation of it all.

Thanks
