How Do You Guys Get Over The Shyness Of Getting Support?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ocala, FL

It's easier for me to find support this way but I joined CARD and they have a parent support group on Zoom and I just can't get myself to get on the camera/mic without feeling embarrassed. Anyone else struggle with this?

A MyAutismTeam Member

Nothing to be embarrassed about, we're all on the same journey. No worries!

Plugs And Dressers.

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Evansville, IN

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my autistic two year old to stop moving and climbing on his dresser? He also pulls the plugs from the wall in his room, I put a plug cover on that’s supposed to be child proof, but it was not Haiden proof, so I took all plugs out of his room but I was hoping someone could give me ideas, because I can’t take plugs out of the whole house.

They have these outlet covers that cover the entire cord, I think they go by "Dream baby" on Amazon. I can't even get those suckers off
Not sure about the climbing, but make sure your dressers/TV… read more

Font....

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Albuquerque, NM

Does anyone else have a child obsessed with font/sans
My little is "font" morning to night. He studies it, he can explain different ones and talk in great detail about it
My daughter, 28 years, is a graphic designer and sometimes asks her brother, 6, to identify a font when she can't. It's unreal.
He also remembers things, details and never seems to forget.
Edit;
I forgot to mention logos.
Very specifically 20th century Fox but others as well. Even logos we've never heard of. We frequent a… read more

Trying To Get My Son To Start Sleeping Alone.

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
New York, NY

Good Evening Everyone. So My son has a bonding thing when sleeping. He can not sleep alone. He is now 13 years old & STILL refuses to sleep alone. Before I would lay with him until he dozed off then go to my bed when he's asleep. As he is getting older I would then sit on the edge of the bed until he goes to sleep. Today as I type this I wanted to try a different method now that he is officially a teenager. I am sitting on a chair outside his room until he dozes off but he is tossing & turning &amp… read more

My little, 6, still sleeps with me. I tried getting him into his own bed but he loves routine. We play soothing music, I have lavender pillow spray, and when we lay down he likes to watch me play… read more

13 Year Old Asd Girl Experiences Voices Anyone Else?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ontario, CANADA

So I'm not sure how to word this one but here goes nothing! I've approached multiple doctors for my 13 year old daughter who has asd and she says she hears voices that tell her to do bad things. I've had numerous doctors tell me this is normal for girls with asd, has anyone else experienced this???

A MyAutismTeam Member

Someone already suggested signing. Sometimes when my son gets overwhelmed and frustrated, we will do some simple signing and he seems to respond to it a little better. His frustrations usually come… read more
