A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

When your ASD kiddos/Teens(Not so much adult) went through growth spurts, what behaviors or symptoms did they have? Were any of them worrisome?

I went through a growth spurt in late middle school/early high school. They say kids sometimes gain a little weight before they sprout up, but I was skinny until about 10th/11th grade. Not that I was heavy by any stretch of the imagination, but I was solid. I started high school at 5'4 and roughly 135 pounds and graduated at 5'7 and 185 pounds. I was also a men's 7.5 shoe at the beginning and and 8.5 when I graduated. When I hit around 30, I had to go up to a 9 and that's where I am today :)

My son, now 14, will eat and eat and constantly be hungry. It took me a while but I figured it out; When he's going thru a growth spurt is when this happens

My grandson has been very explosive lately. He can't ride the special needs bus anymore, as he has figured out how to get out of the special harness..that was given to my daughter for him, he also has broken 5 windows and a truck window with his head and holes in their walls as well... No concussions or brain concerns. He barley has any cuts or scratches.. Just a bald spot on the back of his head.. Also bites and pulls my daughters hair, and slaps and hits his younger brother, when he gets mad.

We notice Joseph having regression periods. We think he may experience a growth spurt and he's returning to what is comfortable (regression behaviors). I sometimes think it's his brain and body trying to resync during growth spurt since his mind is delayed but his body is growing on schedule.
