Where Does One Go For Some Type Of Treatment, Facility, Etc. That Accepts A Child With Autism, 8, Non Verbal, With Dangerous Behaviors?
I’m in constant fear, every day throughout the day I fight trying to gain control or calm these behaviors that include self harm to me, himself, & others? Everything in my home is damaged, the risk that my landlords discover the damage done, we are being told to leave. Residential has been recommended for awhile, as I’ve tried every other avenue I’ve been offered and can find. In Indiana state funding is required for most. Tumeric is also good for inflammation. Constipation and blockages can be big issues for some autistic kids and so can dental.issues. Seek out a pediatric gastronologist and a dentist skilled with autistic kids. Keep a chart of big meltdowns, what happened before, how long they last and when they end. I am new as well. I can relate to the couches as well! Bedframes, tables, etc. This is not okay. I am not convinced that this is how we should be living our lives. I have changed diets, added daily supplements, the support I have got from resources here is absolutely terrible. I have been reaching out nonstop for additional testing because I almost feel like my son is in pain and no one is listening. I hope you find some relief for you and your kiddos as well.
Maybe have further testing done? Your child could possibly have a mental health condition, that would require possibly medication or certain therapy? I wish you all Goodluck! Sending prayers your way as well.
I’m very empathetic to what you and your child are going through. My son is 5 1/2 but last year he became uncontrollable and would bite his arms and hands and scream constantly and loudly and/or cry. We tried various medications but nothing seemed to help. A functional medicine doctor suggested he was in pain but he couldn’t communicate as he is non-verbal. He suggested naxoprofen (Aleve) suppositories (because it’s too bitter to put in food or drinks). A pharmacist can prepare the dosage you need for his age and weight. It relieves the pain wherever it may be occurring. Much of autism is caused by inflammation to the body and brain. Good luck to you and your son and I hope you can find a remedy that will give him relief and you as well.
