Yeah, we split right when he turned 2 and visitation wasn’t really consistent until he met his new wife and we went to court in 2022 we started 2 weeks in June and 2 in July. Every other weekend August-May. It sucks when he’s gone he’s like my shadow but I use that time to watch movies I couldn’t, do date nights, just get rested so when he returns I’m reset and there for whatever he needs.

He’s completely exhausted when he gets home from visitation (sometimes every other wknd), and my ex seems to have forgotten that our son is on the spectrum since he just got married and has two “new” sons. Thank you SO MUCH for reaching out. I don’t feel so alone anymore. My parents think I’ve made the worst decision and are just dwelling on the worst that could happen. So yes- I know this pain. Especially since my ex says the world will not treat our son different and he has to learn to adapt. So he won’t do our son’s regular routines or anything. When he comes back from vacation or long extended periods of time there he takes a few days to recover and looks exhausted. He’s 13 and high functioning but over stimulated and between my ex and his current wife there are like 7 kids so it’s a lot. Just concentrate on you during this time.. feel selfish, be selfish you can’t be the best mom wore out so that this time to regroup and then when he’s back you are well rested.
