Today Robert had his 6 month meeting with his Project Home Social Worker. I don't know how it went. I did speak to yesterday about getting back Robert's Medicare and she has paperwork to complete this. If someone has a low benefit with Disability every state has help to pay for Medicare. With SSI they receive Medicaid.

You definitely need a lawyer to fight Social Security make sure they know about Disability.

Sounds like Robert is doing well. Haley struggles in social settings. She is very immature for her age. She acts inappropriately and says inappropriate things. We have tried youth groups at different churches but the other children don’t understand Haley’s behaviors so she is ignored.

We have a lawyer this time for Disability so maybe it will go through.

Thank you for listening.

Haley was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety beginning in 2nd grade. She struggled socially. Things got worse in middle and high school. Doctors and therapists said it wasn’t Autism. I had never heard of PDD-NOS until she saw a new FNP in February. It is really frustrating to me—those doctors, therapists, and even the school should have known about PDD-NOS. Anyway, thank you for listening to me rant.

We filed for disability in January and she was denied (1st attempt). We have filed a second attempt and are waiting to hear back.

The largest town close to us is about 45 miles away.

How does Robert do on a daily basis?

Hopefully you will receive the waiver as we can't prove Robert has autism. Even though he was in Special Education until 6th grade. All the paperwork that thank heaven I have doesn't say the word Autism. Yes, it does say he had/has social issues, etc.

Please keep in touch with Social Security as people let the disability process and let it slide. Then you have to start all over again. When did you file?

Is there a larger town close to you?

Harriet Woolf—Thank you so much for your response. It sounds like things are going well for Robert. That is encouraging for me to hear. We have applied for disability for Haley. We were told it could take several months before a decision is made. Also, we are hoping she will be eligible for a Waiver….still waiting to hear back on that. We live in a small town and there is very little, if any, help for autistic individuals. All of this is new to us. We are happy to finally have a diagnosis that makes sense. Thank you again for your response.
