My 3 Yr Old ASD Daughter Is Going Under Her Mattress

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 3yr old is trying to sleep under her mattress. We have a floor bed for her. Because we didn’t want her to get her legs stuck in anything. And now she is lifting her mattress and trying to sleep under it. I’m scared she’s going to suffocate

I would try a weighted blanket or a couple weighted blankets or maybe even a feather bed that she could put on top of her. Seems like she is sensory seeking for that extra smooshing or anchored feeling.

One of my kids likes ALL the blankets (a weighted one too) and ALL the pillows piled up LOL.

No she doesn’t but I’m guessing that will help. But she is very attached to her bamboo muslin blanket

She needs a Tent. They make Bed Tents for this situation.
Does she have a weighted blanket?

Have you tried compression sheets? The combination of the sheet and weighted blanket might be enough to meet her sensory needs. I hope you find a solution. XX
