My son was diagnosed level 2 but is high functioning but in his case it was the social and emotional. He was officially diagnosed at age 11 before he was diagnosed with ADHD and sensory processing. As he got older he calmed at bit but his impulses are so bad. The school mentioned wanting to test him for ASD for he IEP. I agreed and they came back saying he was on the spectrum and I should get a formal diagnoses. He’s 13 now and going into the 8th grade you can definitely tell the difference between him and his peers- social situations are very awkward and he often says things or does things that make for tough conversations. Since he is high functioning some people don’t realize he’s not being rude or offensive he’s just observing and stating things. We do a lot of therapy though and we find activities for social interaction for him that he enjoys.
