My son was on guanfacine for ADHD and sleep difficulty. Dosage was gradually increased since the lowest dose did nothing to help calm him. As the dose increased, so did the OCD and aggression. This medication was a nightmare and I had him weaned off immediately! I hope you have a better experience with it. Just monitor behavior closely

one of the biggest SEs from Guanfacine is exhaustion. 2mg depending on his size may be too much medication for him to handle.. I have heard positive things about this med but that is the biggest issue people seem to talk about. Perhaps ask if he can go down in dose? good luck

My 10 year old had that and made him very emotional the guanfacine. Hes on Ambilify now a version of it different name and works well small dose. He was hyper and bad behavior also. Praying things work out for u.

Thank you so much. He’s actually on the generic, Guanfacine. He told me he doesn’t feel like Jax that he feels wonky. I told him if he felt that way I was not making him take the medication. He’s only on 2mg.
