"autism Friendly" Salons In The Boston MA Area
Good morning
My son Diego is 5 and diagnosed with autism. Due to his sensory sensitivity (around his ears and neck) we have a hard time getting him to get a haircut. My son is 7, and extremely noise sensitive, salons were too overstimulating, and if anyone in the salon started a blow dryer, complete meltdown.
I also started cutting his hair myself, at home (terribly I might add). Until I found a hair stylist who does mobile hair. So she's come to our home & do it. He even let her use the electric clippers without getting upset.

Heyyy
Haircuts have always been a challenge for my son as well. Recently, I realized that one of the reasons he feels uncomfortable during haircuts is because of the smock that covers his arms. It makes him feel restricted and more anxious. To make him feel more comfortable and distracted, I ordered a smock with sleeves from Amazon. This allows him to hold his tablet or book while getting a haircut. We used it for the first time last week, and it made a huge difference in his behavior and fear. I wish you the best of luck!
