Parents How Do You Keep Pushing On A Very Hard Week? What Helps You When You Can't Find A Babysitter Or Someone To Speak To ?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I had a bad week. My son woke up at 2am almost everyday this week. He hasn't wanted to take a nap. So of course there hasn't been any breaks for me. I know that sounds selfish but its been a really tough to get through this week. I want to find something that can help me push through....like a hobby or hopefully a support group. What helps you? I have heard drinking a glass of wine helps. Not really sure. Thanks for your input

I feel for you I really do!
I have been there. .. I didn't sleep for littlerally 2/3 years.... it just got worse.
But what I found helpful was melatonin at night 30 min before bed. (Magic)
He slept ALL NIGHT.
No sleeping in have him & you up early every morning like 7am.
Keep him busy!

Not at all selfish. Its like an athlete never gettibg to take that breath before the long jump...it aint gonna happen! You need sleep, day rest, day breaks, chill out time....are you a non drinker in the sense its not regular for you to enjoy a wee glass of something? What is your pleasure is it chocolate instead of maybe its getting a bath...dying your roots 😚...painting toes!? Do "your" passion/pleasure in your down time. To get this time you seriously need to consult your GP about Melatonin. Our son is just 3 today, on week 2, he doesn't need to sleep early like other todlers but will be out for the count an hour or 1.5hrs after administration (liquid form) and will not sleep a greater longer sleep...it is a natural hormone that those with asd adhd add odd etc etc do not produce/release in an effective amount to become tired enough to sleep...its natural and will help their system to kick start producing their own supply...sleep cycle will improve...no magic bean for us but this is definitely an improvement in the world of autism. @A MyAutismTeam Member this goes for you too my dear, you will be in danger or burn out or break down with those little 'uns keeping you doing the Zombie olympics at night....my own nurse friend said...would you feel bad giving a diabetic insulin to function...? Nope so the answer is help your little person help you by giving them what they lack. In the past two weeks since Melatonin our son is better during the day after better sleep, he doesnt have the dark under eye bags anymore and his eye contact is much better. We even have one word on repeat..."Mamma!"....x

We also use melatonin and it really helps relax Owen before bedtime and during the night. A doctor suggested it and it really has made a big difference.
