How Do I Get Mpls Public Schools To Put My Son In School Of My Choice
Minneapolis Public Schools won't put my level 5 ASD child in the school that will best fit him.
They put him back in the school that I took him out of due to his aggression etc.... I sent him to a ABA and now I have to put him back in school system temporarily.
Anyone know of a good school in North Mpls that is good with aggressive type ASD?
They just called back and now will look at other schools . Lol! ( He went to Jenny Lind which didn't work)
Hi, I'm currently going through the same thing with my son. It's a funding issue here, they don't want to pay for it. What I'm finding helpful is to have recommendations written by professionals who have worked with my son. I've had his doctor and psychologists who have worked with him write letters stressing the need for my son to have treatment and education specifically for children with autism, which cannot be offered by the public school systems. This way, you aren't the only one saying it's necessary because unfortunately, schools like to write off what the parent thinks is best.
Matthew starts District 287 North Education Center in Robbinsdale Monday. I have heard this is an awesome place that can keep up with his needs.
Thanks for suggestions !
Oh yes he is on a waiting list for MAC but it is a year wait .
I had Chileda write a letter of recommendation stating he is a level 5 and needs a high level school, but they still want to place him at the one that didn't work or one called Riverbend. From what I am reading I do NOT want to place him at Riverbend.
I hope Robbinsdale accepts him.
Thanks
