Essential Oils
I was wondering if anyone used essential oils and which ones were the best. Also how did you use the oils. Carter gets a little over stimulated after school and we thought with peppermint we could get him to relax and then use lavender at night.
I use lots of oils! On myself as well! For my son...Thieves on his feet every time we leave the house for anti viral/bacteria. Lavender on his spine for calming. Valor behind his ears and wrists for anxiety. And vetiver on back of neck for focus.
For myself....Valor behind ears, and on wrists. Endoflex on my neck for thyroid health and energy. Lemon in my water for health and digestion.
Cedar wood is great for sleep too. I have diffused it n his room and put it on his feet.
Peppermint doesn't calm my son though....it rejuvenates him! And me! Love it! But it is good n the afternoons to give him a boost to get through the rest of the day.
thank you all for the insight. we did use lavender last night just a little on his wrist and will start using a mist tonight because he actually was comatose last night LOL.
as for the peppermint oil, I did some research and it said it was good for eczema which I plan on using to make a body wash.
carter doesn't get real hyper, he gets more or less tense. so hopefully this all works.
Meant to add this...peppermint is a hot oil! Meaning it will b too strong for skin. I put it on the tops of his hands. Small amount but tell him not to rub his eyes! The peppermint fumes r strong snd will burn ur eyes too. Wash ur hands after application. U can dilute it with olive or coconut oil. It gives me clarity and wakes me up! And opens sinuses! Start small and only buy therapeutic grade...the aromatic grades do not have the healing abilities because of other harmful ingredients. It's a learning curve! I'm still learning! But worth it.
Wow. I have never heard not to use thieves on kids under 10. I know lots of mamas that swear by it. I need to read the article! And yes...I do cook and drink with lots of oils. Only pure therapeutic grades. Of course don't drink or eat the others...they have crazy ingredients!! But oregano in my lasagna...lemon in homemade dressings. I like all the calming oils you mentioned. But also sometimes the skin can react to "neat" lavender if applied too much too fast. Good luck!! To each his own...especially because our bodies can all act/react differently to oils.
@A MyAutismTeam Member I was waiting for you to join. Thanks.
