Would You Vote To Tax Everyone To Pay For Your Child With Autism?
Maybe you and me but. . .
In Georgia, a proposal is for treatments up to age 6(!)now and the voters will have to approve a sales tax to help kids with autism up to age 18. Has any state done that? Any state passed a sales tax of everyone to pay for something that will benefit 1% of the population?
Sole comment on the legislation. Doesn't look good if there a lot more clowns like this one.

This is the problem with many bills and policies the politicians bring up there are always hidden agendas and nothing is just as it seems. To me this is the politicians trying to sell that they are pro autism by presenting the bill or advocating for it, all the while they know there is going to be opposition because everyone gets taxed for it. They try to make everyone believe they are the good guys when they really aren't.
To me this is the same as everyone paying taxes for providing public education. We all pay for it but not everyone has children so technically people pay for a service they never use. I have had elderly people say why should I still pay taxes so children can go to school when they either have non or their children went to school decades ago.
If you think about it states that have the highest tax rate tend to provide more services to the public. States that have very little by the way of state tax have very few if any services. So if you have disables children and you chose to move to a tax free state or a low tax state you have made a bad choice because you will find very little by the way of services. I think that everyone should pay taxes to help take care of all of the disabled not just autistic people specifically.
I've said it several times but this just reinforces my view that Georgia is going continue holding the title of worst state for kids with autism. It's the 8th most populous state in the union and one of the 10 where there's no insurance mandate to treat autism. In a presidential election year of 2016, the politicians know there's going to a lot of voters so this ballot referendum is likely to fail and it's another why to avoid the issue until 2017. There isn't a big movement to change the status quo
I think I blew a job interview last week for the best chance I had at getting a job in Wisconsin (anyplace up north for that matter). Seven months of job hunting finished in 45 minutes.
