Has Anyone Used Essentials Oils For Their Child?

I'm from a more natural-living location, and some of my friends have suggested using essential oils to alleviate some of the issues we face with autism. Below is a snippet from a website dealing with medical use of oils... Has anyone done this, had success with it, or failed miserably with them?? Thank you!

"Note - Since many with ADD/ADHD, asperser's, or autism are highly sensitive to odors and sometime touch do not force the application of oils if it is a negative experience as this will… read more

I have tried them, however my daughter has sensory issues and it drove her crazy, it was not a good experience. We tried some that were not as strong and still the same. I would be careful if your child has sensory issues

I use lavender, norali, and sandalwood, applying a drop or two to the base of his skull (brain stem region) in an upward motion twice/day or when he gets upset. Also lavender in bathwater, infuser in bedroom, or a few drops on his pillow under the pillowcase. He likes lavender the best. We have been doing this for two weeks now and the improvements in his behavior have been amazing. His teacher and speech therapist don't know that we started using these oils, but they both can't get over how much better he is doing now. The teacher called today to tell me how well he is doing, and even trying new foods at school.

I currently am using medication with essential oils and have been for several years; however, I am trying to remove my children off all medications due to the side effects in many of the drugs causing more harm that the actual behavior we are trying to deal with. My daughter's sensory is much, much more sensitive than my son's. She struggled for many months with the smells; however, persistence and introducing her slower than my son has been key. She walked in two days ago asking for an oil for her cut. She realizes the oils are better than creams so she is willing to compromise the smell versus the texture of creams.

I've heard good things from moms I know about Jeddy's Blend. Haven't tried it yet because we are currently working our way down the list of suggestions from our biomed dr. But it's something I might consider trying in the future. http://healingwithessentialoils.me/2013/08/14/w...

I just posted something I just bought for my son's room. He really likes it! I used the "Cheer up Buttercup" essential oil. It smells like fresh lemons to me. He loves to watch the steam come out the top, and the LED color changes. I like that it doesn't get hot. It's like a cool mini humidifier. I got mine at a local health store, and highly recommend it!
