Rockville, MD

My son picks his toes/fingers until they bleed in the middle of the night. We don't want to keep on putting banaids on his toes and fingers.

OMG, we are also having this issue with the non verbal twin. Apparently the doctor thinks its getting out of hand because she scheduled an appointment for Oct 24th with a specialist. My granddaughter scratches her face, picks her toes, picks her hand and yes, they bleed a lot. If something is raised on her skin, she will pick it until it bleeds. We have tried all the methods you mentioned above with negative results. Between my sister the nurse and myself, we keep the oinments, creams and socks going all the while looking for infections and swelling and so far, nothing like that has happened, but it is real challenging. The teachers are perplexed...lol

Thanks for your responses. We have used socks, skin cream, etc. and he still reverts to picking whatever he can find (a pimple on his face is the newest spot). We have also given him many fine motor projects (including beaded Christmas ornaments which we are both addicted to at this point) and many stickers and mosaics. Whatever he can peel and poke and stick! He loves to do these, but I am going broke at the craft stores. The good thing is that we can sell them at craft fairs!

Nothing.it will not continue forever.if u got them pedicures and matures so that there's no excess skin to pick at they would fund something else to pick at.hey maybe bubble wrap or peeling glue off their skin? I remember how satisfying that was as a kid.
