High School Assignment/Homework Book
Anyone have any ideas how to create just the right assignment/homework notebook for an Aspie entering high school? Most of the store created ones aren't good enough. They either don't have enough room to write or aren't "guided" enough.
I was referring to where he writes his assignments for homework down. I did the same thing as you though in terms of organization and use one folder for important materials coming and going.
From what I understand from the school policies, the technology route won't work as they aren't allowed to have their phones or iPods with them during class. I've seen some pretty great apps too that would have been cool to try. Of course, if he has problems, then I can always go to them and ask for this.
I was thinking of doing my own paper version. Would you mind sharing your ideas with me? We used a 5-Star flexible binder last year that had his school issued agenda and a folder in it that worked well. But high school doesn't issue an agenda. So I'm thinking we'll use the binder again with the folder and just print off the sheets I make him and put them in there.
There are two ways-I am finding, since the kids are technologically smart, that a good task program and google calendar work perfect. Taking a picture of assignments on a board has been recommended too.
If you want the paper side, I made my own once for my son-just made a form with all the stuff we needed on it-left the date open and printed them out.
In our school district the google doc calendar homework that the teachers put into their own calendar can be sent/synced to my son's (they have to do it)-obviously just the teachers he has.
I like those books too. Giving him a blank page to write it as he pleases may be a problem though. Online assignments is definitely a question I'll ask at open house next month! It's a whole new school, so I have no idea what to expect.
We used a black and white essay notebook. One page per day.
