If You Saw Results From Methyl B-12, How Long Before You Noticed?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our son, who is mild-moderate Asd w/severe verbal apraxia, just turned 3 a month ago. We are on our 2nd week of methyl b12, with shots every 3 days. Have seen 0 results so far. Our doc said that out of his patients 1/3 have great results, a third have some results and that the remaining third have no results at all. Just wondering if we're going to fall into the last group as we have seen nothing at all yet. Thank you!

It took about a month to start seeing results from mB12. We have seen a mild acceleration of DD's rate of improvement. We did see a big gain with DMG, which is also a methyl donor. My guess is that she didn't gain as much from the mB12 as some kids because she had already benefited from the DMG.

I saw results with the methyl b12 , 5 or 6 months after , she started talking 1 word , and signing ,, then 2 words , and now her language has improved a lot , she says 3.4 word sentences ,, no prompting ,, and she continues with the injections her Dr said for another 2 years ,, but I think is Also a combination of therapies, she has intense speech , and Aba, Ot.

Thanks for the reply, Mandypants! We're also doing probiotics as well as an Omega 3 combo (ProEfa and ProEpa), multi-vitamin, Iron, and Vit D drops (the last two rec'ed by his doc).

You mentioned that you recently started Speak -- have you noticed any results so far? We tried it initially maybe 14 mos ago for perhaps 4 mos but didn't really notice much in the way of improvement or difference, though he may have just been too young at that time (?). Our doc recommended Speak recently as well, however with the lack of results the first time as well as the cost, not to mention some reports of seizures and regression while on it, we're not sure if we want to try it again.

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to answer. I guess we'll just keep trudging along and hope.

We just started speak and yes it is expensive so if we don't see results or notice negative effects we will discontinue use. I'm going to give it a couple months and possibly begin methyl b12
