For All You GFCF Families....how Do You Get Protein In Your Little Picky Eaters Diet?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our son is very, very picky. No veggies, little fruit and the only meats he eats are sausage links and chicken nuggets. If they can be called meats :). I want to try the CF part of the diet first, but milk is for sure the place he gets his protein. He is a huge milk drinker. If I take that away, I have to wonder how he will survive. Any thoughts?

Yep! My guy loves RAW Protein Powder chocolate shakes with organic almond milk. He really enjoys when I throw a banana into it. I get mine from Vitacost.com... If you never ordered from there I can send a friend code from their website which gives you $10 off your first order. I get A LOT of my guys gfdf foods from there. They are cheaper than the health food stores. I also used to puree organic beans into spaghetti sauce and put on his rice pasta. He is 18 now and really likes meats & fish FINALLY. Now, veggie textures.... ugggggg still have to puree them or hide them.

We bought a juicer and we put fresh fruits and veggies in it and put it in his cup and he thinks it's apple or orange juice. We also buy gfcf chicken nuggets and fish sticks. Also if u have heard of the pizza chain your pie , they make a good gfcf pizza. Eliminating the milk was hard. I would do half and half with almond milk, until he would just drink plain almond milk. It took about a week.

Forgot to mention that I would also make smoothies out of Vega One vegetarian protein powder, dairy-free milk, and frozen berries. http://myvega.com/products/vega-one-shake/featu...

Protein is found in all sorts of foods, maybe not in the concentration found from animal based protein but a little research will yield a big list. Try nuts, almonds to be specific (chocolate almond milk is a fave in my house) and beans. My very picky kid loves chickpeas and black beans rinsed, right out of the can. Add powdered protein mix to drinks & smoothies. Try protein snack bars like Cliff & Luna bars.

RyLee's choices are the same. We make his chkn nuggets. I don't force, but I encourage anything with eggs(french toast) and peanut butter. We also use a multi vitamin.
