My son started talking at 4 and that was just repeating whatever we said. We started the PEC system and also an augmentative device since he was repeating. It really helped.

My son didn't really talk at all until he was four and he is five now and he still is about 2 years old in his language. We use and AAC communication device that is electronic that he carries with him to help him communicate even when he is frustrated. We also use sign language with him as well. Keep your chin up remember your child has a different way of communicating and understanding language you just need to explore the easiest way for her and that may or may not be verbally

I have a 3 year old daughter with ASD that is non-verbal. She says no real words but babbles constantly. She had been in speech therapy since she was 15 months old and now uses the PEC system to communicate. I long for the day she looks at me and says "mama ". It breaks my heart because she wants to talk so badly.

I have a 3 yr old girl who just babbles. She knows a few words and at times will say them but not consistently. She is currently in developmental preschool and now we got the diagnosis the school is incorporating ABA. She seems to understand me but just have difficulty saying the words.

My 3 year old son wasn't talking much before his second birthday. This worried me and I had the Dr. refer him for a hearing test. The results of the hearing test came out clear. We got in touch with the community early speech and language providers (Beyond Words - Toronto / GTA). The Beyond Words group registered us for these speech programs "It Take 2 to Talk" & "More Than Words". We learned strategies to present opportunities for our child to communicate with us. Seek help from a registered speech pathologist they can help direct you on the next steps to take to help your little one learn to communicate.
