If Your Child Responded To Methyl B12, How Long Did It Take To Work?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

For those of you whose children responded to the methyl B12 injections, how soon did you notice a difference? My DD is participating in a research study and we won't know until the end of October whether she is getting the mB12 or the placebo. I gave DD her first shot on Thursday night, and so far haven't noticed anything different. With some of the other biomed treatments (acetyl-L-carnitine, Coenzyme Q10, DMG) she had noticeable improvement within a couple of days so I don't know if B12 just… read more

For those who are saying all of the benefits disappear after a certain amount of time, that was starting to happen with my son but it was because he was growing and needed the dose adjusted. Now we're back on track.

My son showed immediate differences after receiving b12 shots (like 2 hours). But after about 6 months of treatment, all benefits disapeared.

We started B12 injections for all three kiddos. My daughters vocalizations have greatly improved and my oldest sons desire for socialization and tolerance improved. My other son didn't show any change. The two that did respond , did so after about 3 injections (given every three days). The suspense must be killing you but I don't know if there is a really good answer for you. Hope this helps:)

She's now been on the shots for about 5 weeks now, as well as some new supplements (GABA, folinic acid, etc). We also started HBOT last week. She's doing great! I would still consider her largely nonverbal though the number of actual words she says is increasing. She is waaaaay more connected and engaged with everybody. She plays so appropriately with toys and I think her physical strength and coordination are improving too (she is hypotonic). It's hard to say if its B12 that's doing it or one of the other many things we're doing. I'm a scientist so that aspect bugs me LOL but as a mom, I don't really care as long as its working!!!!!

Do it. We're about 15 shots in and I'm kicking myself for not doing it years ago when I first learned about it. It can't hurt to try and the benefits could be amazing!
