What Do You Guys Think?
Does anyone ever wish there was a place or a program where you could go to get suggestions on or tactics on how to deal with some of the daily issues of having autistic children?
I have not reached out to any groups of other parents or kids yet but we are starting a group called "social activities" after Christmas break, recommended through the Autism Specialist that works through the school system. I am excited to see how this goes.
well as i posted before... i have created a site for activities and techniques that people have tested and approved either as parents or teachers, that help build skills. if you want to learn more, email me and I will give you the link. welll SweetPeaMom im working on creating just that kinda place. ill keep you informed. if anyone has any suggestions im always open to hearing ideas.
The "find parents" area is a start on this site, but perhaps the search/sort terms could be added to/changed to reflect if people are looking for social opportunities for themselves and/or for their children.
I've met other parents of Autistic kids through www.meetup.com it's a site for groups with special interest that meet each other for activities. You just put in your search words and your zip code and see if their is a group in your area. I even found an Australian Shepherd playgroup for my dog in Austin through meetup.:)
