@A MyAutismTeam Member every child is different, that’s true. In any of these therapies, it will depend on the parents to carefully manage it, make sure the child is not getting pushed too hard, and… read more

Increasing Joint Attention

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Boston, MA

Our 2.7 year old son has a difficult time with joint interaction/attention. He pays attention for 5-10 seconds at a time sparingly throughout the day. Yes, he's in ABA 21 hrs/wk and we've seen some increases in this, but not at the rate we would like to see it. It's hard to keep him engaged in activities and feel like we've tried/are trying everything. Just reaching out to see if others have experienced similar with their little ones and what's worked for you to increase joint attention… read more

RDI Vs ABA Vs Floortime

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Boston, MA

My son will be 2 yrs old next month and he is currently receiving 12 hrs/wk of ABA therapy. We have decided to try Floortime as well as RDI in addition to ABA. Not sure the logistics or how it is going to work, but thought an additional therapy would be beneficial. I realize every child is different, but wondering how it went or is going if anyone else has tried these other therapies or is currently using them. I go back and forth as I wonder if increasing ABA hrs would be more… read more

California Vs. Massachusetts For Child And Adult Svcs?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Houston, TX

Hello, we are looking to relocate permanently to a place for better autism services. We currently live in Texas. Since this is a big step/move, we want to make sure we choose a place that will have excellent services for our son throughout his childhood and very good services for adults (activities, but more realistically, residential facilities for when we are too old). My husband can probably get a job in California (Bay Area) and Massachusetts. Has anyone had experience with both places and… read more

We are thinking of trying Floortime with our son. Has anyone here tried this therapy? Is anyone currently? What did you think?

What's The Difference Between ABA And Floor-time???

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Los Angeles, CA

My son is receiving 20 hours of ABA therapy after school. His principle recommended replacing ABA with Floor-time. She said he would benefit more from Floor-time because he doesn't have behavioral issues. Does anyone know the difference between them? Has anyone's child benefited from Floor-time???

A MyAutismTeam Member
