Anyone Else Scared To Send There Non-verbal Toddler To School?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ohio, OH

I have twins who just turned 4 and Im having a hard time sending them to preschool. I know it would help, but I am having trouble since they are non-verbal.

I cried the first time I sent my youngest son to preschool. He had very limited vocabulary and wasn’t potty trained yet. He loves taking the school bus and he did better than I expected.

At 18 years old, he is now in the post-secondary program and doing well.

Absolutely...so true. You can explain til you turn blue, but they just don't know the all-encompassing, detailed-filled life we lead. Thank you, too. ❤️❤️

That’s why I joined this group, to have people I can relate to. If you’re not in the situation it’s hard for people to grasp the magnitude of it all!
Thank you 💜🩷💜

I'm right there with you!! 🤣🤣
We could right a book and make MILLIONS!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I don't care either!
It's hard to go up against EVERYONE...especially the very people who are SUPPOSED to be helping you. But, I think as you go, you realize that if you don't fight for your child (children), no one else will. Especially, if you are a person like I was when I was younger...very meek and didn't make waves. I became a very different person very quickly as preschool started. I COULDN'T let them do what THEY wanted because it made THEIR day easier. I HAD to start fighting back.

Now, at 63, I'm an old hand at it. And, like we both said, I dont care anymore. They can try all they want, I'm not phased in the least. I'm pretty straight forward with anyone who works with him. I don't let anyone push him or me around. I am a very polite person, but I'm not intimidated by anyone anymore.

Yours are very lucky to have you, too. A job well done as well! We both know we have to fight them off with a stick...sometimes politely and other times, not so much!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
