We Are About To Move But Just Wondering How Do We Make Sure Our Son Doesn't Get Over Whelmed And It Can Go As Smoothly As Possible For Him

We recently had to move after being in a tiny apartment for over 2 years and my son is non-verbal at only 5 years old. My husband has a unique way of thinking to accommodate our sons needs. So we decided to introduce him to the new home while empty, limited packing in common rooms from old place until last minute because that stressed him, and we got a sitter on moving day just long enough to set up his essentials. Living room furniture and tv (he loves Elmo) and then his bedroom. Then our sitter (my mom) could bring him to the new home so that we could finish up the moving of everything else and packing. He transitioned relatively well and I was grateful for my husband's insight.

Keep him informed and lots of deep breathing let him tell you what's upsetting him. communication

If possible spend short amounts of time 30 minutes to an hour at the new place before moving allowing him to get familiar before transition. My son is nonverbal. I show him pictures of new places before they are introduced if he is going to have to get used to them.
