There are some families that don’t have a home convenient for animals. Try weighted blankets. My son is now 24 yrs and still sleeps with his. I had a weighted vest when he was small. I Also would have him lay down and applied pressure to each of his joints then massaged the arm or leg and then go to the next joint. He Lo ved it and would calm down and most often fall asleep. I have raised my son at a time when there wasn’t much help or advise, just trial and error. Many people have asked me to write a book. My son is doing very well. Has a full time job and is independent. I’ll answer any questions

I don't want any judgment on what I post. I got a Jack Russel Terrier as a rescue dog when I was 14 years old. My parents got me a dog to be an emotional support animal. Let me give you some context, the reason why my parents got me the dog was I was just diagnosed with Bipolar 1 and was still mentally shaken. My aunt suggested the idea of getting a rescue dog. My parents took up the suggestion and in the same month, we adopted an adult female dog. Now to be honest I was not mentally ready to have the dog. I tugged on the lease too hard due to having no experience and I bothered the dog. I know now that this was not responsible behavior. I did go to therapy at the time and talked about my issues taking care of the dog. The therapist taught me the right way to take care of the dog. So soon I learned from my mistakes. Once I learned from my mistakes, I took her for walks, picked up her poop, and gave her space when she needed it.

Such a brilliant idea! My son when his anxiety is extreme he will be calmed by just sitting with his dog.

we have an indoor rabbit and my daughter gives him cuddles when she is stressed. The advantage is you don't have to take him for a walk !
