Anyone Used The “stay Put” Provision Of IDEA To Get Public School District To Continue To Pay For Non-public School Special Placement?
After 5 years of struggle at public school, our 12 year old grandson with level 3 ASD, ADHD, and dyslexia was placed at small specialized NPS on a six month contract. Made huge gains, very happy there. District now says they can provide needed services at the public junior high so won’t pay for NPS. THEY CAN’T! We don’t want to move him back to public system. Anyone with experience with advice for how to proceed?
Are you able to contact an advocacy lawyer? Perhaps lawyer can make a legal argument.
I found this through the California State Council for Developmental Disabilities. May be a good place to start.

I would reach out to your county board of developmental disabilities. They would be able to put you in touch with a case worker or other resource to help your grandson stay where he is.
