Nerotherapy For Autism Or Medication?
My wife wants have Nerotherapy sessions for my son who is 7 to help him with communication behavior ect. It is not covered by insurance. I think medication would be better. Has anyone used Nerotherapy before and if so how was your experience with it? Thank You
Don’t do it if you child has any signs of disassociation
I’ve never used neurotherapy, but I would give it a shot before turning to medication.
We’re doing biofeedback training (which is said to help with focus, self-regulation, communication, body-awareness, etc.), and we’re doing it as a first step, and then if we don’t see an imprivment, we will try some medication. Our reasoning is this (which just works for us, no judgement on ithers who uave a different plan): We are trying this out because if it works, it gives him life-skills that can alter pathways in the brain (creating a long-lasting effect and one we can amplify with continuing to work on strengthening those neuropathways). Whereas, meds are a continuous need that is tricky to reduce, tricky in knowing when to reduce and costs also money overtime. But thats just our family, and we might find ourselves also going for medications after trying this with all our efforts first. Hope this helps your discussions at home :)
I haven’t heard of neurotherapy as an autism treatment but I’ll have to look into it!
