Does Any One Else's Kid Keep Food In Their Mouth?

Saint Michaels, MD

He will keep food in his mouth for as long as I let him. I try to dig it out after a certain period of time.

@A MyAutismTeam Member I shared a link a while back ago that goes over every single sensory category with ASD/SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) Let me see if I can find it. It will help you tramendously!

Aziel likes to hold liquids in his mouth. He will jump, run, and spin with it in his mouth. Often times he chokes because of it. He will also hold it to go find a place to watch it slowly fall out of his mouth. We don’t always know about it until we walk on it…. But, we tell him to swallow it before he starts choking. Often times he will swallow it after telling him to do so at least twice. It wasn’t always like that. It used to take telling him to swallow millions of times, multiple bed changes during the day, and preventing him from taking his sippy cups anywhere besides the table. It has to do with the gustatory sensory.
