O Socks No Shoes

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

What do parents of severe ASD or/and sensory processing disorder toddlers do for this;;
My daughter recently refuses to wear any socks or shoes. We’ve tried all types of suggestions like bigger sizes, different types of shoes, seamless socks, and absolutely nothing works. Idk what to do anymore & it’s getting cold meaning She’ll stay sick this winter. She already has a cough & runny nose as the weather is changing. .

@A MyAutismTeam Member around the house & for pajamas I do put her in those onesies/rompers. She will take her bottoms and pull-ups/diapers off randomly so they are a must & so I may have to make that an everyday occurrence. I did not think of putting her in them for outside. Thank you

My son is 12 and we still deal with this. Every time he gets off the school bus he has taken his shoes off and the bus aide has put them on and his heels are not in them. Maybe she would tolerate some pajama bottoms with feet. It's a little better than bare foot. Also when Liam takes his shoes off outside, that problem is occasionally corrected by natural consequences. He doesn't like all textures of ground beneath his feet and in some places I can get the shoes back on because of this. If you have to just bring the shoes if it's cold and maybe she won't like cold feet enough she will tolerate the shoes.
