Autistic 5YO In Kindergarten
My son started kindergarten last week and he has a paraprofessional. It's been a rough start, my son is pulling things of shelves, makes noises and even kicked some people in the classroom. He's not violent with us, so this has to be related to being overwhelmed

Is there a special needs classroom he can go to instead of the typical classroom? Why would he be paired with a para without a background in autism?! Ugh.
My oldest son has been in the special needs classroom. He still participates with his peers during specials (gym, library, music, art). Each year he has been staying in the typical classroom for longer periods (he's in 3rd now).
If your school has a special needs classroom, it sounds like he would benefit receiving instruction in there. A typical classroom is big with lots of activity! Plus the expectation is to sit and listen. Such a challenge. I hope you can get him what he needs to succeed.
We just withdrew our 5 year old daughter from her school ! It was a complete nightmare!! She’s now home schooled and it was the best decision ever !!! She’s so much happier !!! And so am I if you have any question about school or home school let me know I can try and help you

how do you home school if you have to go to work to pay bills?
Ask your school/school district, if they can send a teacher to come home for in-home classes
