My son was about 7 when we traveled from New York City to Virginia by Amtrak. I packed his action figures and a portable dvd player for him to watch movies mostly Disney this really helped the time pass. Just pack things that your son likes.

We've never traveled by Amtrak before so I wanted to know what we can do to help my 16 year old. I have not booked any tickets yet but we won't travel far. Probably within CA or up north on the west coast like Oregon or Washington. Maybe Vancouver, B.C.
