My son is 11yrs old. We put him on Abilify but his problems were getting worse at school. He was taking meds in the morning -so we asked the doctor to take meds at bedtime thinking he is “too tired and cranky” during the daytime at school. no, medications are really great when there is a confirmed diagnosis of a mental health condition, a genetic disorder, or what have you.. but autism doesn't respond well to that kind of medication.. so the issues, being really susceptible to immune system, nervous system, and digestive system issues.. still carry on, no matter what the appearance of behaviour is.

G started taking Zoloft this summer to help with anxiety. It hasn't changed his frustration threshold. Maybe it is helping a little with anxiety. Not perfect.

My son took zoloft for 4 days. He was too tired to function and i know from my own experience with it that it can ( at least with me) make matters worse.

I take Zoloft and it helps me. I took Abilify for one month. I never felt so crazy in my life! I wish you the best on finding something for your angel that helps. God bless.

This is an update. We are weaning him off the Abilify and his behaviors have lessened greatly. I guess it wasn’t a good drug for his body chemistry. Trying Zoloft now. Thanks everyone!
