Why Does My Daughter Ripp Her Clothes?
I am concerned about my daughter's(11 years old) behaviour. She tear her clothes. I buy her soft, T-shirt, or soft stretchy, seemless clothes, that is a larger size, but she still tear it. A specially at the crotch area and around the arms. What can I do to help her?
Hi guys, thanks for your helpful input. Will try all to help her. Very greatful! Warriormom32, she is verbal. I also think becoming of age has something to do with it. It started about 6 months ago. Her sensory issues has definitely escalated the past year. She does is unintentional, while watching TV. Not in anger. Her comfort zone is, staying in her room, with only undies on and a very soft blacket around her, if she comes out to fetch some food. Addicted to cellphone games an TV of course... For the holidays, I let her be, because she has jam packed school term coming up. Still in mainstream, now grade 5. Only 10 pupils in class. Gets 65% overall. We applaud her for trying so hard. Loves school still, so we're greatful. We live in small town Rawsonville, in South Africa.I love this platform!
Were there any life changes happening when this started? Does she have aggression? Is she ripping off in a highly upset state? Previous issues with clothing/textures/materials?
My son spent past year ripping of my clothes and when it was phasing out he turned to ripping his shirt off to avoid doing to me. For him it was an aggression outlet. I look at it all as being grateful. Grateful that its clothes and not self injury.
Some kids at this age (puberty) can begin these behaviors around this time. Its time for process of elimination. Try new material with clothes, different underwear. Looking for whats going on in the enviornment just before this happens.
I am assuming she is non verbal so as you know, it takes alot of paying close attention. Good luck mama:)
With her getting ready for puberty look into starting her up on certain vitamins if not allergic. Magnesium, E, &B12 benefit the brain with mood and relaxation.
I never knew how beneficial E was for the brain, always knew about skin, not mind. I take it & B12 plus Fish Oil for seizure control, very helpful! Plus the magnesium relaxes nerves. Big plus with puberty!
Consider having her soak in Epsom bath salt at night. Tones down PMS, plus helps them fall/stay asleep at night. It has both magnesium and sulfate that stays in the system 18 hrs. Eases cramps or any pain. It's a God sent in my eyes with girls & moods.
