Has Anyone Had A Child Who Is Hyper Sensitive To The Sound Of Laughing?
My son was diagnosed with mild ASD about a year ago (at age 3). Since he was an infant, laughing has bothered him greatly. When he was a baby/toddler, he would hit me in anger when someone else was laughing nearby. As he has gotten older, he’s ok when he is “in on the joke”, but if others laugh and he doesn’t understand the “why”, his eyes start welling up. My laughs seem to affect him the most. My son has been like that for 9 years now. Reason #86 why I have extreme anxiety...lol its not always but sometimes. Its his anxiety or sound sensitivities in that moment. He also may laugh with everyone. Its hit or miss but its a laugh that appears out of no where at a high pitch that sets of his stress and sometimes aggression. My husband will do it...but Im programmed to know how to laugh around him..lol its usually an anxiety trigger and certain pitches can feel literally painful to their senses. I researched it years ago.
Have you tried AIT, laughing has different pitches, he may benefit from any kind of auditory integration program
Yep, sounds of babies crying...and just keep any noise a toddler makes far away as well..lol
