Social Security Benefits

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I see multiple have asked this but I don't see an answer to any of the threads and they all seem to be from years ago. Has anyone applied for SSI benefits? Anyone had success? I see there is a limit on income and it says its like (Phone number can only be seen by MyAutismTeam users) per month or something. It says to not let that be a reason to not apply. That being said just curious to hear some stories of those who have taken the challenge.

Yes i have my daughter receives it for autism she gets 750 a month. It took 3 months for her to get it. Her school tested her for autisim and ssi went on that and only thing they had me to do is take her to see their pyschologist they picked to see how she interacted with them and she was approved. It wasnt much of a fighting battle they make sure with medical history or iep programs its just a waiting game moreless. Going be doing it again with my ither daughter soon.

I don't know what the income requirements are as they wouldn't tell me. We decided to apply and were approved for one child. At first, he was getting a $9 check (not a typo). Obviously that check didn't help us much. It went up a little after a few months. What did help us was the free to us health insurance that getting SSI qualified him for.
