Weighted Blanket For International Flight

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Exton, PA

Has anyone traveled internationally with a weighted blanket? We are flying to Italy to see a relative & we have 2 flights (one 3 hrs, second 9 hours). I am wondering if this is considered medical equiptment? Will I need an note from an MD for it? We also have to wear masks because the relative we are going to see is undergoing chemotherapy & this flu season is terrible.

TSA in NY tried to confiscate his weighed blanket (despite the dr note explaining the item & the reason) because it had beads inside. Finally convinced them to let it go after my son had a major meltdown in the airport. We had absolutely no problems overseas.

I would think it's ok, I'm sure 80-90% but a note from doctor or nurse might be handy or ask airline, travel agents and get note acceptable etc

This is an excellent question, also applicable to domestic flights.🤔
