Looking for something to help me with severe anxiety that won’t turn me into a zombie! Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks!

I use essential oils, both burn it in the house with a diffuser, and rub diluted in pressure points. Lavender is good for calming, also Ylanglang.
And, I don’t want to appear all airy fairy, or anything, but for me, mindfulness and gratitude, really helps with my stress, when things seem so hard.
For instance, every night write down 3 things you’re grateful in your day for. As small or as big as you like. Ie: marshmallows in your hot chocolate, Or your car is full of gas, or Netflix, or your child drew you a drawing. Just thinking about these things, I don’t know, make things seem more in perspective.
At dinner, every person shares one good thing about their day, and one bad thing. It’s been so good for the kids to be open and thoughtful.

I've discovered something rather odd. Much of my anxiety (not all but a good solid chunk) ties into sensory issues. I was reading about how many autistic flap or other stiming to handle sensory issues. A few summers ago I gave myself to flap in the car or the grocery store. It's made a gigantic difference. I don't think it's a cure for everyone, but it made a tremendous difference to me. Next time your panic Is starting to build up give it a try. What can it hurt?

Kava Kava, Valerian root, lemon balm, chamomile, vitamin B complex, D, Multivitamin, a balanced diet, light exercise, 5 min of meditation everyday (or more depending), Praying- These are the only remedies I've found to work for me personally.... Oh and Lavender- I use lavender laundry detergent, body lotion, cleaning spray, oil in humidifier, etc. I try and keep my home smelling like lavender.

I had my first panic attack at 19. I thought I was losing my mind. So, since then, I’ve tried a lot of stuff. It took 15 years to figure out that it was related to my monthly cycle. Just knowing that helped. As moms of kids with ASD know, preparation is key. I always have zombie meds on hand -but that doesn’t help answer your question. Hiking. Getting a dog. Vitamins (a general woman’s multi). Day dreaming (a sort of meditation). And get some relaxing tea with valerian root! I feel ya, mama. I really do. Hope this helps!

I've had anxiety all of my life, which got worse when I recalled my abuse as a child. And then after having three children with Autism, my anxiety went through the roof and along came some depression. I used to be on the SSRI Effexor, then switched to the SSRI Lexapro. But because my depression is worse than my anxiety these days, hearing what I'm taking now wouldn't really help you. If you're anxiety isn't severe, the natural remedies mentioned above sound fabulous! My younger sister buys and takes cannabis edibles that are high in CBD (not much THC) during the day. She swears by the 25mg edibles. I have yet to try them.
