Son Makes These Deep Hacking Hocking Sounds With His Throat. It's Not All The Time. Has Anyone Seen This?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I thought maybe it was allergies or post nasal drip. I don't know. I try to monitor when he does it, but It's really random. I thought maybe it was more after eating but not necessarily. Some say it may be sensory. I'm going to have a ENT see him. Anyone seen this? Thanks

@A MyAutismTeam Member hope its nothing serious, but sometimes (aspie) kids will develop some self stimulations including make noises with their mouth, among the gazillion other things. Best of luck!

Yes, it is at times called a "tic". It's sensory and some kids will replace that with other things...kazoo, gum, other oral/blow toys.
