Music Therapy In Irvine
Hi,
I am looking for music therapy services for my 4 year old son on Spectrum. He loves music and recites a couple of nursery rhymes by himself when watching on IPad. His language is emerging and would like to try Music therapy. Have heard about Kindermusik in Tustin and McKee Music therapy services in Irvine. McKee Music services fees is exorbitant. They charge $100/hr. Any one has any recommendations? I believe insurance does not cover Music therapy services.
Thanks.
Hi KonkaniQueen,
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything yet to move forward in that direction. I tried talking to school last year for music therapy to be implemented in his IEP. The school didn't have any music therapy at there facility.
I will try this year to get it in his IEP.
Thanks,
Ritu
Hi Ritus76
Please google IDEA act passed in 1980. Music therapy is well proven & therapy is provided by trained therapist who are qualified in all 3 streams, music, child development and psychology.
If one Is able to prove on paper that child is learning in a,b,c aspects with music in much better way than regular in-class setting, one has better chance to get music therapy from school district at given school. If for whatever reason, they are not able to do so at school, school district has to fund it for the kid in outside facility.
I'm in the process of getting things done so that next year's IEP has few goals with musical intervention.
If you have found any ways to move ahead, please let me know.
