Sensory Learning Progam

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Columbus, OH

Has anyone tried the sensory learning program therapy with their child? A friend told me he did this therapy and it did wonders for him.
I'm thinking about trying this, because I know my son has sensory issues.

Thanks

I know this is an old question- not sure if you tried it or not. My son completed the program a few months ago and it seems to have really helped his sensory issues. The most amazing thing was how his drawings changed from the start of the program to the end of the 30 days. He went from drawing a circle with eyes and stick arms and legs to drawing detailed developmentally appropriate punctures. Anyway, I'm not sure it would work so well for everyone but I am really glad we did it. Hope that helps someone out there!

I know this is an older post, so I apologize. I am a mother of a newly diagnosed 2 year old boy. We are set up to do the sensory learning program in 3 weeks. I am hopeful that it will help him, but still nervous. You mentioned the change in your sons drawings, I was just curious what other changes you saw.

Thanks in advance!!

My son was five this past summer when he did the program. It was 12 straight days at the clinic, two times a day for half hour each session. He laid on a moving table while listening to headphones and watching a colored light. I sat next to him- the room was pitch dark so I held his hand and gave him toys and made sure he didn't fall asleep. After the 12 days we had to do 18 days at home with a light box. I was sceptical at first but after researching decided to do it. It honestly helped him a lot.
