I Am Running Out Of Ideas For Poo Training My Son. Any Tips?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 7 yr old son will sit and pee on the toilet but insists on having his clothes on when he goes number #2. In fact he does not even want to be in the toilet area when he goes poo. I have tried so many different reinforcers, they aren't effective at all and when I try getting him to at least go in the area of the toilet he will hold up for several days.

If you go that route you have to model. Even let him push the button. The some that have seat warmer function and heated water. my son at three zapped grandma. At first he was not keen but now he much rather be at home than out for the bathroom. Eventually it saves on tp
The prices have come down a lot on them the only thing tricky is installation they are not that popular.

Ask your doctor about miralax, give at the same time every day...and then take note on when he is going, the first couple days. then have him go to the bathroom around those times, and wait him out...BIG reward after (quickly fade this out) but may even mean a trip to the toy store the first time. the miralax (and a good diet) will making going less painful and less intense sensory experience, but will make him more regular. hang in there.

@A MyAutismTeam Member. I never thought about that. He goes in the position of all fours and does not seem to be bothered when he does have a BM. I usually have to initiate the cleaning, he won't let me know.
