I would try to keep your son involved in the moving process as much as time and his attention span would allow. If possible, before the move take him to the new house and let him see his bedroom. If possible, let him pack a box of his favorite items right before the move. This may help him feel like part of the move.

It may be better if he could spend the day of the move and possibly one day after with a friend or grandparent. This will help eliminate any possible fear of watching everything being carried out of the house and will keep him from getting under foot.

My son is 3 and we also just moved. I kept all our furniture and especially his room exactly the same set up. I don't know if it helped but my son seemed to adjust really well. We also moved to have a yard and his own space :) best wishes for your new home.

My little guys loves the movie ChickenLittle. There is a song by Art Garfunkel (I'm old) called All I Know in it, and I try to keep those lyrics in mind when things go bad.

Hello, We moved few times. First time when my daughter was around 1, from state to state, too young to do anything; then when she was around 3 we bought a house few miles away, she loved it (bigger room, she got to pick the color, bedding etc.. the last moving from state to state again she was arounf 7. We talked to her all the time about the moving (we drove from east to west), about the places we will be able to visit, the hotels we will go to (she got to pick those too :)), about the beach etc... she loved every bit of it. Now she is 9, she sometimes talk about going to visit our house, that's it.
Good luck
