Ipads And Leappads
We heard all the positive news about using ipads so we tried to get a cheaper alternative to start with, the leappad. To our shock we found the opposite effect on him. He would become non communicative, and withdrawn, totally focused on the pad and extreme temper tantrums when we had to tansition him. The things he managed to learn before were being "forgotten" as he kept using the pad. Are we the only ones who've found the pads are a detriment for our son?
We have used it mostly as a reinforcer. And using game apps as reinforcers for doing more challenging apps. We tell him if he does X, He can play two games on the iPad but we get to choose the first one.
I love electronics for the reward time I can offer my kids. They don't need the accessibility apps the ipad has, but the tools there really do help them with daily life. However, it is not a right and privilege! They have to earn the time.
My son gets aggressive and possessive over the iPad. It became a fight that was so exhausting and not worth the fight. They have some autism apps that maybe could keep your child learning about emotions etc. it basically is used now as a last minute resort and is always in my purse but my son hardly gets it now. You are not alone though. Like I said, my son would FLIP if someone tried to take it or even move it!
Has Anyone Used The Leapfrog LeapPad 2 With Their Kids ??? Did They Like It ? Is It Worth Getting ??
