To make traveling a little less stressful, planning ahead is so helpful. I prepack outfits into gallon ziplock baggies (top, bottom, socks, anything else), print out a "mini folder" trip to share with Aiden and start sharing with him a few days before (pictures of the hotel, especially if there's a pool & going to be swimming, if you can confirm,a picture of the room you are staying in, pictures of other people that might be with us (Grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc), pictures of activities or places that we will be seeing/doing. We take a trip to the Dollar Store ahead of time to get fun little toys that I pack away & through out the trip give to him. We let him pick out a new DVD if we're driving there. We make it an adventure getting ready for the trip, so he is excited before and looking forward to the changes coming. I'm not going to lie, it really does take a lot for us to go on vacation and can be stressful, but all of your prep-work will payoff (All of the giggles, smiles, and memories outside of your daily routine will be worth it!)

Show pictures of where you are going, how you are traveling there etc. and try to discuss what will happen each day or throughout the trip. This may help. Do this every day up until your trip.

Hmm well make sure you are on the first floor. I took my son on vacation and someone complained to the front desk we were making too much noise. It wasn't his fault right?

If ever you are on a trip where you WILL be flying, look into programs which can make your child more comfortable with the experience - Southwest Airlines hosts occasional programs where autistic kids can go through security, board planes, basically the entire process, but without actually going anywhere. Also, look into a product by Sensory Shield LLC, which may ease the stress of long trips.
