I live in St. Louis city and we have an HORRIBLE public school district. My son will be losing First Step services soon and I need to find a school for him
St. Louis city public school systems are not fully accredited, at one school only 5% of third graders could read
There is a school called Howard Park Center that would be wonderful but it's about 45 minutes away. I'll deal with that but the tuition is steep. If my public school district is failing could I get help paying for tuition… read more

Hi Amy,
I'll be crossing this road with my grandson as well . My grandson won't be 3 into 2014 so I have a minute. However by saying this I've begun the process of finding a credible school for my grandson, since I 'm in the city of St. Louis. The steps I've taken is reaching out to people whom has knowledge on this issue you & I have regarding the failed city schooled system. Thru the place here called St. Louis Arc/ Belle Children Services one of the workers gave me a lead on two places. Development Chid Care Center located on Tamm Ave another called Peace For Kids located on Newstead close to the Cathedral in the Central West End. They are pricey as well. But always ask do the center offers any forms of grants/ scholarships. I will be calling both centers on when can I set up a time for a tour. I've also heard of Stixs Early Childhood Center on Taylor Ave. (central west end are). Also look into our magnets school & also you do have the option to voluntary participate in the program were you can be a city resident & want your child to attend a county school district . I hope this helps out. Good luck.

Thank you! I work in Clayton and I heard that working in the school district you'd want to attend helps get you in (still paying tuition) but it's not guaranteed. Plus non-residents are limited in what they can receive through Special School District.

Give mpact a call. you can google it. We're in region 2 and so far they seem to be helpful with letting you vent and great advice.

If I get any more info, I'll pass it along
