Daughter On 3rd Week Of Methyl B12 Shots

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

And I have noticed that the last 4 shots sites look kind of like patchy eczema. She has scratched them so much they are starting to crack and bleed. Is this normal or could it be an allergic reaction to them? I plan on calling her DAN! Doctor tomorrow, but I thought that I will see if anyone has been through this or even knows something about it. Thanks in advance!!!

My son takes preservative-free injections of Methyl B12 every other day and does not have this skin reaction. I would discontinue until you talk to your doctor. My son reacted tremendously (non-verbal to verbal) for the first two months and has kind of leveled out to steady progress since then. I love Methyl B12, but we aren't completely sure why it works in my son, since we had his DNA methylation tested and results were normal.

Hi, it is very encouraging to hear it worked on your kid . We started this to our 13 year old boy. He is low functioning and dint build the expressive language yet . We had given him about six shots already and dint see much changes . How long would it take to see the differences?

Unfortunately, methyl B12 has only mildly accelerated her improvement. I was hoping for something more dramatic, but according to the professor running the mB12 study she's in, it's about a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 split between major improvement, no improvement, and mild or mixed results (e.g. big improvement but also major side effects like hyperactivity). OTOH, she did have a major improvement after starting DMG (this was long before we tried mB12), so I'm wondering if there was less room for improvement in her methylation status than if we had tried mB12 first.

Thank you all for your response. She is sleeping now, so I will call her doctor the first thing in the morning. @dlegendre, I have been putting Desitin on her, but then she scratches it right off, lol.
@A MyAutismTeam Member, how is your DD doing on the injection? Did you notice a difference right away? I have noticed subtle differences with my DD, but nothing to major. But, like I said before, she has only be on them for 3 weeks.

My DD has been taking the active shots since the end of October and has never had any kind of skin reaction aside from the occasional scabbing if I'm clumsy with the injection.
